Wesley Youth

Wesley Youth Ministry is an exciting place for 6th-12th graders to grow spiritually. We engage teenagers with a multi-faceted program of Christian education, mission and service experiences, fellowship, and worship.

There are regular activities as well as special events throughout the school year and summer. The goal is to help teenagers grow in their faith commitment to Jesus and to share that faith in God's love with others.

Here are some of our regular Youth activities and programs:

Acolytes:
Acolytes are also known as Altar servers. They have the responsibility of assisting the pastor in worship, receiving offerings, processing in the cross, candles, and bible, as well as serving Holy Communion. Youth serve as Acolytes in worship on a rotating monthly basis.

Fall Retreat:
Every Fall (usually during Fall Break), the youth take a retreat. Retreats are designed to be an opportunity for spiritual growth, service, and group building. The Fall Retreat is often one of the most looked forward to events of the year!

Summer Camps:
As a part of the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church, every summer camps are offered for children and youth. Our Youth attend the Metro Area camp that meets at Canyon Camp near Hinton, OK. There are also two leadership camps - JEM (for aspiring Jr. High leaders) and CYME (for aspiring Sr. High leaders). The purpose of all summer camps is to provide a venue for teenagers to draw closer to God and re-affirm their commitment to follow Jesus into the world.

Spring Break Mission:
During Spring Break, the youth take up a mission for serving others. Over the years the youth have done lots of different work, including:  Renovation work at a school in New Mexico, sorting and distribution of food at the Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City, landscaping at a Campus Ministry, and volunteering at an inner city Urban Ministry for the poor and homeless.

Wednesday and Sunday Nights:
The youth meet every Wednesday night, 5:30-6:30 pm and every Sunday night, 5-6:30 pm. Youth, 6th-12th grade, are invited to join in these times of food, fellowship, learning, and laughing.

Sunday School:
Sunday School is provided for teenagers every Sunday, 9:30am-10:30am. Scott McBee is their Sunday School teacher. They have donuts too!
