Care Ministry

"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you visited me."------Matthew 25:35-36

Care Ministry is the ministry of all Christians. Everyone is called to give a caring hand to people in need. Sometimes it is simply a kind word. Other times it may be a soothing voice or a listening presence. Whatever the case, as Christians we are all called to minister to others in their time of need.

At Wesley, the heart of our
Lay Care Ministry is our Shepherds. These are gifted, dedicated volunteers who are charged with the duty of reaching out in love to those in our extended church family who are in varying moments of need. Those who are sick, shut-in, grieving, lonely, depressed, or simply at a crossroads in life are all proper recipients of a Shepherd's care.

Each Shepherd is assigned a certain number of people with whom they keep in regular contact. They convey information about the state of their flock to the Pastor and the prayer ministry of the Church. Matters are always kept explicitly confidential among the Shepherds, the Sheep, and the Pastor.
